Welcome to the Be Utd Opinion Polls. We would be greatful if you would take a second to cast your vote on the following questions. The vote is totaly anonymous but please be aware that you can only vote once so make it count!
“Should the Government focus specifically on race equality as well as all the other equality stands or should they concentrate on all equality strands bringing together race, age, gender and gender id”
How can I answer “Yes” or “No” when there is an “or” in the question? Yes to what? Both propositions?
we will only have a true and genuine and open democracy in the western world i.e UK,USA and EU once anyone regardless of race, sex, colour etc can occupy the positions of King,Queen,Pope,PM,President,Chief of Staff etc based on merit, ability to do good in the world.
I agree question 2 is confusing and needs to be made clearer. Perhaps by dealing with multiple oppessions together can help to unite people, “to the oppressed and those who are on their side” – Paulo Feire.
With best wishes, Barry
Question One limits the options too much. The need is for all institutions to confidently engage in making their places of work and the services the provide – discrimination free zones. Choices between job opportunities verses the limitation of employment penalties through the criminal justice system are not fair or appropriate choices.
Question two should be presented as two separate questions. The evidence should determine the prioritisation not be a matter of either or. Tackling race will not prevent or eradicate the other equality concerns. All need to be addressed with clarity and urgency.
There should be more help given to provide enhanced education and training to BME groups, to enable them to be competitive in higher levels of jobs application.
Question 1: Does not distinguish between Health or Labour Market. Also these are public service areas – what if you thought something else? If you tick other – it could virtually mean anything, as it is not possible to comment.
Question 2: Is 2 questions in one!
It is not possible to untick boxes if you regret having tried to answer this survey.
Question 1left me confused. The point is that all these issues are interconnected and interrelated and the effects complex. I would have thought we have a clear focus after the Lawrences campaign – institutional racism. all institutions should clean their own backyards.
question 2- as most have pointed out , it is impossible to answer because of the way it has been constructed.
Whoever drawn up these questions has not put no thought into them,
Question 2 need’s to be split in two sections, there are two questions in one plus the question don’t make sense
Both questions need restructuring, the number one priority for tackling race inequalities is addressing racial equality itself. It has nothing to do with employment, health or education,
“until the colour of a man skin is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes there will be race inequalities”
When all this empire building stops then we will have racial equality.
Second question answers do not fit with question
“Should the Government focus specifically on race equality as well as all the other equality stands or should they concentrate on all equality strands bringing together race, age, gender and gender id”

Question 2 would be better split into two halves with the responses being given by a multiple choice selection of (a) or (b)
And, incidentally, government is a single collective noun and should be referred to by the impersonal pronoun it.

when considering groups for educational focus, please don’t forget the needs of the poor white pupils who are the largest underachieving group
Question 2 needs to split as suggested

I agree – the last question cannot be answered by a simple “yes” or “no” as there are two questions in one!
You should test your questions before publishing them! Question 2 results should be annulled and 2 questions should be asked instead!
Question 2 can’t be answered as it is not clear what you are saying “yes” or “no” to. Please re-phrase the question, and I’ll come back and answer it!
The last question was not clear as to what you say “yes” to or “no” to.
